Hanukkak, Christmas, Fruit of the Spirit Peace

Today's focus is Peace.
Again I am using the King Jame's Version of the Bible unless noted along with citations from the Christian Science textbook Science and Health with Keys to the Scripture by Mary Baker Eddy.

Feel free to share your thoughts on Peace and the Prince of Peace as we love to hear from readers.

Section II
Peace

The Bible

Isaiah 54:13
13 And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children.

II Thessilonians 3:6
Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.

I Corinthians 1:3
Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 14:33
33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

Isaiah 9:6,7
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

Isaiah 52:7
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!

Science & Health

45:16
Glory be to God, and peace to the struggling hearts!

Christ hath rolled away the stone from the door of hu

18 man hope and faith, and through the reve

lation and demonstration of life in God, hath
elevated them to possible at-one-ment with the spiritual
21idea of man and his divine Principle, Love.

506: 8-14

Genesis i. 8. And God called the firmament Heaven.
9   And the evening and the morning were the second day.

Through divine Science, Spirit, God, unites under
standing to eternal harmony.

The calm and exalted
12 thought or spiritual apprehension is at peace.

Thus the dawn of ideas goes on, forming each
successive stage of progress.

52:13
Despised and rejected of men," was Isaiah's
graphic word concerning the coming Prince of Peace.

15
Herod and Pilate laid aside old feuds in order to unite
in putting to shame and death the best man that ever
trod the globe.

To-day, as of old, error and evil again
18make common cause against the exponents of truth.

The "man of sorrows" best understood the nothing
ness of material life and intelligence and the mighty ac

21  tuality
 of all-inclusive God, good.

These were the two cardinal points of Mind-healing, or
Christian Science, which armed him with Love. The high

24  est earthly representative of God, speaking of human
ability to reflect divine power, prophetically said to his
disciples, speaking not for their day only but for all time:
27"He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do
also;" and "These signs shall follow them that believe."

59:11

Fulfilling the
12different demands of their united spheres, their sympa
thies should blend in sweet confidence and cheer, each
partner sustaining the other, — thus hallowing the union
15of interests and affections, in which the heart finds peace
and home.

another note to readers: all citations from Science and Health are copied with formatting as they are seen in our weekly lesson and in the book.

I hope you have a blessed week as we continue our journey.

Hanukkah , Christmas, Fruit of the Spirit, and Love

Last year I wrote a lesson for our nightly reading combining the Bible and Science & Health with Key to the Scripture by Mary Baker Eddy.
This year I decided to expand on the lesson a bit at added another book Miscellany also by Mary Baker Eddy for Cameron to read with us each night.

We are focusing on the Light of the World and the Fruits of the Spirit over the nights of Hanukkah pointing toward Christ. I share this with a grateful heart knowing that I am know in a place where I can share these ideas with more people through my own understanding.

I hope you have a blessed season as we look toward the ultimate light of the world, Christ Jesus and his teachings.

The below is tonight's readings with citations for the above mentioned text. All Scripture is used from the King James Version unless otherwise noted.

Hanukkah 2012

Golden Text: Galatians 5:22,23 (NIV)

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Responisive Reading Ephesians 5: 8-10 (…but), Deuteronomy 13:13, 19:9

but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

9(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

10Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

10 And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.

9 If thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the Lord thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, beside these three:

Section I

Love

The Bible

1 John 4:7, 16
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God, and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

Romans 13: 10
10  Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Psalms 119 :159,160
159Consider how I love thy precepts: quicken me, O Lord, according to thy lovingkindness.
160Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.

Hosea 14:4
4 I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him.

Mark 12: 30,31
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
31And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

Section 1
Science & Health

454 :18-21
Love inspires,
illumines, designates, and leads the way.

Right motives

444: 4
"All
things work together for good to them that love God," is

326: 8
All nature teaches God's
9love to man, but man cannot love God supremely and set
his whole affections on spiritual things, while loving the
material or trusting in it more than in the spiritual.

583: 20-25
Creator. Spirit; Mind; intelligence; the animating

Life, Truth, and Love; that which is perfect and eternal;

create an atom or an element the opposite of Himself.

Section 1
Missecallaeny Writings

123:3
To me, however, love is the greater marvel,
so I must continue to prize love even more than the gifts
which would express it.

The great guerdon of divine
6Love, which moves the hearts of men to goodness and
greatness, will reward these givers, and this encourages
me to continue to urge the perfect model for your accept

This truth has traversed

A sweet treat and scent too #mompact

I wasn't sure what to think when I read the label, perfume candy? I'll give it a try though.
MompactI gave out samples at Cameron's birthday party and the tween girls loved it, even the boys didn't mind the taste. The adults thought it was a neat idea and were happy to see a sugar free variety.

I decided to set a candy dish out on the table for the holiday season and since my boys aren't crazy about it (they like 1 piece a day maybe), it now has a home on my dinning room table where I can enjoy them and have reached for them on more than one occasion as a replacement for chemical cough drops.
I love the hint of perfume by the end of the day, but have to say I'm not sure if I would eat enough in a day to maintain the perfume scent.

Mompact
Like I said earlier my family that has sugar issues was happy to see the sugar free variety. I also noticed the sugar free variety hold up to temperature changes better that the sugared ones.

I started following Deo candy on Twitter and Facebook and look forward to more interaction with this company online.

I received samples to share with friends as a Member of the MOMPact Ladies Night Out group and am promoting a variety of fun products with friends and readers through the program.

Holiday Fun School at Zoo Lights

It has been a couple years since we took the boys to ZooLights so when the opportunity presented itself this year, I decided to incorporate some school time in the event.
Since Daddy was on a business trip we brought along a friend that is fairly new to Oregon and had never experienced the ZooLights. She also offered to drive which was a blessing for this mama that doesn't like to drive on the freeways.
We arrived just early enough to view the Cascade Trail as it was closing (Rick gave us a nice tour as he was locking things up). The boys got to explore the trail and see a couple of bald eagles along the trail.

We explored several other areas of the zoo not related to the lights although as the evening wore on the animals were nestled all snug in their beds, either way the boys had fun and were taking notes along the way to talk about the animals later.

While Mommy doesn't have the fanciest camera (hint hint Santa) We got some fun shots. We popped out my the petting zoo and took a picture of the boys on the tractor seats as we continued our journey exploring the animals and lights in art. A favorite for Cameron has always been the snake, I think I have a picture of the snake everything year we have ever gone to Zoo Lights. It is a fun tradition to add to the event, see how many of the same light displays are up each year you.
The boys also tried to guess how many lights they saw the next day. (Note to Mom, check with the zoo and see if they know)
One thing we didn't get to do this time was the model trains, but that was ok as the space was being used as a waiting and watching area for the arrival of a new baby elephant to the Zoo, she was born later in the week that we had been there.
Nathan and I also got to ride the thrill ride. He picked out a fun 3D snowy adventure. It was a lot more fun that I expected and Nathan loved it.

We finished off the evening with a train ride. We ended up loading first which meant we got the read car facing backwards.  We loved the ride and the boys kept watching for the other train and the different lights. They even noticed the train tracks we had walked across when we were looking at the lights.
If you would like to check out ZooLights before you head out I am sharing some fun links below. I hope if you are local you will take this opportunity to check out ZooLights through the end of December.

The Heart of Christmas a movie and a beautiful idea.

The Heart of ChristmasAre you ready for Christmas? What if Christmas is more than just 1 day, what if we could celebrate if any day. The Heart of Christmas is just that, a celebration of the joys of Christmas even in October.  Based on a true story this movie will move you and make you think hard about Christmas and what it really means to celebrate.
What if you were told your child wouldn't live to see another Christmas?   This movie beautifully illustrates one family's answer to that one question.

Matthew West's title track video

The movie trailer only touches on how beautiful this story is.

The St. Jude's Children's Hospital has always been one of those organizations I love to support. I remember fondly the school activities that we did to support St. Jude's. You can join and support St. Jude's this Christmas as they work to fully fund the hospital for 1 day, an almost daunting task as it takes $1.7 million to operate the hospital for one day.
Watch here this week as I post a giveaway for your own copy of this heartfelt beautifully touching film.

Welcome Home Daddy with Ice Age 3 and Dinner #time4family #cbias

Ice Age Continental Drift is releasing to DVD and Blue Ray on December 11th, to get the excitement going and celebrate the long awaited return home of Daddy from a business trip we decided to plan movie night with dinner.

I picked up Stoffer's Family Size Lasagna and Texas Toast (with a coupon!!) as well as the DVD at our local Walmart. If you are interested, many of the Walmart stores have a special coupon where you buy   Stoffer's Family Size Lasagna along with Texas Toast and you get a Wonka candy for free which according to my boys means you will rock your kids' world.
Anyway, we picked up all our goodies at Walmart and headed home to unload and fix dinner. We had spent the morning cleaning house including steam cleaning the dinning room and living room carpets so arriving home to a nice clean family area was a nice treat.
The boys were crazy excited about dinner and decided to set the table nice and make it special for Daddy.
The lasagna took 100 minutes to cook , let me tell you the boys were impatient to say the least.

Thankfully though it was bubbly golden brown and not burned and the Texas toast was a nice addition as I don't normally do garlic bread with so much butter, I try to keep it a little healthier.
Nathan helped Daddy pick out a scripture verse to read for prayer and added a candle to the table. Note to self for future use of packaged lasagna, get a bag of salad to go with it, it sits heavy after dinner.

After dinner we watched 1 episode of Raising Hope on Fox and then started the movie, the boys were crazy excited to see the film again since it had been a Redbox rental when it first came out.
They are even more excited to get the DVD of the next movie next week  (I'm thinking it will be a Christmas present though).

You gotta love the characters in the whole Ice Age series. Not sure how long the series will continue but we will most likely buy them as they come out, family fun, humor for everyone, and voices everyone will recognize. While you are online check out a couple fun Facebook pages: Stouffer's  and Ice Age 4. You can check out our full photo journey on Google Plus
