Hanukkah, Christmas, Fruit of the Spirit, Joy

I meant to post this last night for you, but here is the third installment of our Lesson for the Hanukkah season with our focus on the Fruit of the Spirit and the Light of Christ Jesus.

Section III
Joy

The Bible

Psalms 51: 8-12
8Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
9Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

Matthew 2: 10,11
10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.
Isaiah 52 : 9.10
9 Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the Lord hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem.
10The Lord hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.
Phil 2:2
2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
Phil 4:1-4
1 Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.
2I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord.
3And I entreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.
4Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

Section III

Science & Health

304:9
This is the doctrine of Christian
Science: that divine Love cannot be deprived of its
manifestation, or object; that joy cannot be turned into
12 sorrow, for sorrow is not the master of joy; that good can
never produce evil; that matter can never produce mind
nor life result in death.

The perfect man — governed
15 by God, his perfect Principle — is sinless and eternal.

76:22
The sinless joy, — the perfect harmony and immortality
of Life, possessing unlimited divine beauty and goodness

24 without a single bodily pleasure or pain, —
constitutes the only veritable, indestructible
man, whose being is spiritual.

This state of existence
27 is scientific and intact, — a perfection discernible only
by those who have the final understanding of Christ in
divine Science.

Death can never hasten this state of
30 existence, for death must be overcome, not submitted to,
before immortality appears.
359 :22
In childhood, she often listened
with joy to these words, falling from the lips of her
24 saintly mother, "God is able to raise you up from sick
ness;" and she pondered the meaning of that Scripture
she so often quotes: "And these signs shall follow them
27 that believe; . . . they shall lay hands on the sick,
and they shall recover."
