Sunday Scripture 8/4

16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

The subject of our lesson this week was Love. Such a simple word yet so powerful. In the last the week I have been thinking about the love our Father has for us and shows us. He gives us so much, at the same time we need to realize that we need to love those around us, just as Christ told us. Tonight we had some neighbors over for dinner including an unexpected guest. It was wonderful to share our table with these guys, nothing over the top, just backyard dinner. I am grateful for the opportunity to share our table with friends.
Something to think about in the week ahead, do you love your neighbor as yourself?

Sunday Scripture 6/30

John 14: 6, 16
6. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life : no man cometh unto the Father , but by me.
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter that he may abide with you forever.

James 5:16b
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

The verses at first glance have little connection, but as I struggled with some things this week and studying the lesson this week, I felt comfort no only from the divine Comforter  but also from the knowledge that Christ is The Righteous man that not only prayed for us , but also hears our prayers. We are connected through his knowledge to him. He shared with us all that we need and we can go to him with our struggles.

Sunday Scripture 6/2/13

Bible Lesson
This week there were so many verses from our Bible Lesson that stuck with me, but these two really stayed with me, knowing through Christ we walk as children of light rather than darkness and have the armor of God to get us through our trials and daily dealings is such a powerful thing.
Raising two boys with the armor of God is one of the hardest things , keeping them on the right path seems to be a never ending battle.
At a recent graduation ceremony the speaker gave the graduates a piece of advicse to be cautions of what they listen to or watch as once you see it or hear it you will always have that with you. That bit of advise stuck with me and has been eating at me since. I am really feeling like I need to take away the TV except for school (we watch Artzooka and  Taste Buds on QUBO during lunch).The shows the boys have latched onto are really a struggle of morality and our values. During the summer it should be easier to remove the TV for most evenings. I pray I can stand strong in the decision. It also means I must be more involved in their afternoon and evening activities.

Ephesians 5:8-11

King James Version (KJV)
For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

Ephesians 6:13-18

King James Version (KJV)
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
